Parkinson’s Carepartner 2016 Courses Added

OhioHealth Delay the Disease™, introduces a new course designed to educate carepartners of people living with Parkinson’s disease. In this seminar, the carepartner will learn Parkinson’s-specific fitness routines to help the individual with Parkinson’s incorporate daily exercise into their lives at home and additional tips about taking care of themselves. This course will be presented by Jackie Russell, RN, BSN, CNOR, Co-Founder and Program Development Coordinator for OhioHealth Delay the Disease™.

Join us for a 3 hour instructional class that:

  • Offers basic information about Parkinson’s disease 
  • Reinforces the importance of caring for the carepartner, handling stress, finding time for yourself
  • Explains how exercise can be neuro-protective and help slow the progression of symptoms 
  • Addresses all levels of the disease to help tailor a program for individuals with Parkinson’s
  • Reviews methods and exercises that target daily functional challenges
  • Interactive demonstration of activities such as rising from a chair, getting out of the car, getting out of bed, getting off the floor, and lots more
